merry christmas!!!

well.. christmas is off to a great start here... shashidhar was supposed to drop in to go along to bhopal/indore for tinni and andy's wedding. the delhi fog managed to keep him from keeping his committment, and air deccan did their bit, by first delaying and then cancelling the flight between bangalore and delhi (you might notice the great love i feel for that particular airlines).

now it looks quite possible that my flight to bhopal might also get cancelled. have to check on status on the flights for today, to try and get an idea of what its likely to be. my folks are hoping we need to cancel, so i can stay over.,... i'm hoping that i don't lose too much money in all this stuff. :-P

Party at Geetika's place

Christmas Eve - Saturday - And i'm in office to start the day off.

Had to go in just to help get an agenda out, and ended up spending the better part of the day there. Managed to miss (practically all of) a lunch at a gal's place (don't get many such invites) :-(.

Did enjoy a little bit of some great chicken, but having partaken of some butter chicken in office before arriving at her place, i really couldn't do complete justice.

Here I am, lying on the bed, thoroughly disgusted with myself at having let some chicken remain out of my tummy... :-P

Party at TC - Sarin "Santa" Suares

One more evening spent at Turquoise Cottage, this time the occasion being the presence of the esteemed Kunal Kashyap (clicker of the photo below) and the arrival of Manoj "Bhai" Agarwal (who managed to reach at 1:30 a.m. finally).

Did have some kinda problem in getting the brother in (he didn't look old enough), but that was sorted out, and all had hands stamped, and ushered down into the dingy dungeon that is TC.

The cap of course was part of the celebration in office for Christmas, that got carried a little further beyond office boundaries. :-)

spain, malaysia and the phillipines!!!

visitors from three new countries hit my blog... welcome over folks....

wish more people would visit, but i guess i shouldn't be greedy, since
i ain't writing anything spectacular anyway. :-P

anyway, to all these people who visit my page... there's a tag board
there just for you to leave your presence..... do hit me on it. :-)

good music site

found this really good site for latest hindi music thanks to raj: http://musicindiaonline.com

is quite interesting, and seems to have almost all the latest songs in a pretty easily listenable format... and it ain't blocked in office, which most sites are otherwise.

portugal

so the first visitor from portugal is notched up on this blog today...
sounds quite exotic.. never did manage to hit either spain or portugal
on my one foray out of the country during the exchange.

like named blogs....

came across a couple of them while checking out this new site which is supposed to be competition to google (http://beta.previewseek.com)....

you can check these two sites out:
http://sarinsphotos.blogspot.com and
http://sarin75.blogspot.com

am sure there must be more, but someone needs to help me find them...

anyway, the preview seek site is pretty cool.. gives a whole lot of options/help in terms of a search, but i guess the elegant simplicity of google is tough to beat... just the search stuff, with a couple of sponsored links/ads thrown in subtly and unobtrusively - guess you can
tell i'm a fan. :-)

welcome to the blog chaps... don't know what you're looking it up for.. but glad to have you here. :-)

illegal constructions and legal demolitions

quite surprised that people with illegal constructions can actually try to stop the demolition attempts through dharna's and stoning of buses.

no matter how much of a bribe anyone might have paid earlier, the construction still remains illegal, and i would have expected the people to be on the back foot.

leaving on a jet plane....

and boy was it a long leaving.....

enter the airport at 6:00 to catch an Air Deccan flight scheduled for departure at 7:10. dad dropped me, and i told him to leave, expecting the flight to be on time, as no intimation was made to me otherwise.

in i go, and innocently check in, and am informed that the flight is on time. so i complete security check and find a seat to wait for the flights boarding to be announced.

suddenly there's an announcement that the flight will be delayed, and the new departure time is 20:50. okay, so its only about two hours late... so we sit waiting about after making a little noise about low cost air ways. in the mean time the other two flights out of there are also delayed by about an hour or so.

about 8:00 p.m., the delay is stretched to 00:30... now everyone is upset. lot of noise is made. everyone swears never to fly by air deccan again... but the resolute indians wait for the flight departure to be announced. some people have connecting flights at 5:00 a.m. and are now getting really jittery. others have connections at 9:30 and have now decided not to leave the air port at all. still others have a driver waiting outside the airport to drive them to another city,
who's just camping out there... and i have a friend who is just laughing as he thinks of how he will come at 4 a.m. to pick me up from the airport.

suddenly the flight is delayed to 01:15. no one gives a damn any more. a few groans go up, but there is hardly any movement. the people from the airlines have completely disappeared from the lounge, and all other flights have by now departed. it is only the flight to chennai that is left... even the one babe who was on her way to jaipur, clad in some short skirt, has left.

final boarding happens at 01:30. everyone is just relieved to be on their way, and makes a solemn promise never to fly by air deccan again... poor me - i've already got tickets booked for flying to bhopal for andy and tinni's weddings.... i can just sigh as the flight takes off.....

i guess i sure picked the wrong profession for making money. doc's sure have it made, once they've got their practice set up.

to smile is a problem....

while you have a huge bunch of cotton shoved up your ear - thats what the doctor has done to me in response to the attack of some fungus in there. small price to pay for a weekend in goa, though the doctor sure is extracting the price well out of me @ Rs. 500 per visit.

however, one would always love to laugh at the joke below. :-)

-------------------------------------------------
AT THE electronics company where I used to work,
our sales representative was showing prospective
customers around the plant. As he led the group into
the test department, a circuit board suddenly flew
across the room, thrown by a quick-tempered
technician frustrated in his attempts to repair it.
The board crashed off a wall and landed right at our
visitors' feet. Our sales rep calmly continued his pitch:
"As you can see, all our products are fully shock- and
vibration-tested before leaving the factory."

The Belly Dancer!!!

Woo hoo baby!!! need i say more....
Trying to act decent.. i went about trying to get a photo clicked with the performer before... but you can guess exactly where my eyes were all that time...

Do believe this was a replacement... wonder what the original would've been like. :-)

Me and Raju Shrivastava

The great laughter chapmpion was on display on stage... and right after a magic show that i managed to miss.

Here i am sitting beside him, congratulating him on his spledid sense of humor, while the belly dancer keeps distracting my attention. :-)

Obstacle race (HSBC Goa)

So we've arrived at the sports olympics of HSBC, and I get chucked in the Green team since I'm late in getting there.
Then i'm chosen as the first person to compete... so there I go... first up some ladder... a quick walk over a plat form... jump down a second ladder... over some tire's... under a net.... over some more tire's and finally over a tube...
And to top it all off.. get disqualified for not managing to get my foot into that pile of two green tire's... how disgraceful and disgusting. :-P
HSBC should have know better than to go around disqualifying its clients.

HSBC Summer Olympcs - the pom pom girls!!!

HSBC Summer Olympics with the Pom Pom girls... the best thing there is. :-)

HSBC Goa - the arrival

The trip from Delhi to Goa, via Mumbai was pretty simple except for my first brush with celebrity - Pooja Bedi was on the same flight, though not sitting beside me.
Anyway, we arrived... were greeted by a bus to take us to the resort, and offered beer immediately. If only i drank....
Greeted with a tender coconut and being installed, we're taken for a great lunch.... and then off to the beach ...
