Subject: IIMB ranks as top Indian B-school in international rankings
Dear Alumnus,
I am delighted to share with you the good news about the significant rankings achieved by your alma mater in two recent international surveys.
In November 2008, Eduniversal , a unit of French Consulting firm SMBG , ranked IIMB as the top B-school in South Asia/Central Asia/Middle East and among the top 27 B-schools worldwide. The selection endorsed IIMB's international reputation and influence defined as "the capacity of a business school to make a student valuable – and thus to improve their employability – in domestic and international spheres." Notably, the Deans of the 1000 Best Business Schools from 153 countries elected IIMB among the Best Business Schools in the Central Asia zone, with a recommendation rate of 398 per thousand, followed by IIM-A (379) and IIM-C (321), classified under "internationally known".
More recently, in April 2009, IIM Bangalore has been ranked among the top ten in the Asia-Pacific region in the QS Global Top Business Schools 2009: The Employer's Choice published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). IIMB is the only Indian management school to rank amongst the top ten, which includes business schools in Australia, Singapore, China and Hong Kong. Significantly, IIMB at sixth place has improved on its ranking from the ninth place it received in the previous 2007-08 report. The survey also states that the average GMAT score of students enrolled in the Post-Graduate Programme in Management at IIMB is 780, which is the highest in the entire Asia-Pacific region – testimony to the talent and caliber of students at IIMB, and why IIMB continues to be a preferred recruitment destination for global positions.
I am sure that we are now poised to achieve greater heights. With help from all of you in the IIMB community, we can, and we are, making significant strides in achieving academic excellence. From this academic year, we will increase our student intake, start new programmes, invest in infrastructure, invite best-in-class faculty and also bring in diverse set of international programs within the curriculum . We want all our alumni to stay engaged and join us in this wonderful chapter of IIMB that we all will be proud of in years to come.
Regards
Pankaj Chandra
